Mother Earth (Toprak Ana, 1931 filmi)

Mother Earth (original title: Terra madre) is a 1931 Italian drama film directed by Alessandro Blasetti, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Goffredo Alessandrini. Produced by the Cines company and shot at its Rome studios, the film runs 87 minutes.

The story follows a country landowner who decides to sell his property and move to the city, only to change his mind later on. Leda Gloria, Sandro Salvini and Isa Pola star in the leading roles. Like Blasetti's other early works, the film displays a marked influence of Soviet-style realism, and it is also regarded as part of Fascist Italy's cultural promotion of rural values over urban life.
