Space Force 2911 (Uzay Kuvvetleri 2911)

Space Force 2911 is a Turkish 3D animated adventure film directed by Şahin Derun and originally produced in Turkish. The 91-minute story begins as the spacecraft Savarona, commanded by Captain Murat, leaves the Albatros Space Station on a mission to gather gas and particle samples from an unexplored nebula called the Ninth Sector. What starts as a routine assignment soon endangers the crew's lives and escalates into a threat to the survival of Earth and humanity itself.

The film opened on May 16, 2014, but was pulled from theaters just four days later, officially because of the Soma mining disaster. It returned to cinemas on March 6, 2015, under the title Space Force 2911: Captain Murat, and its rights were subsequently sold to the American company Tricoast Studios. The release drew harsh press criticism over alleged sexist and racist rhetoric, and box office data disputes sparked a protest against the producer.
