War Machine
War Machine is a 2017 American satirical war comedy written and directed by David Michôd, adapted from journalist Michael Hastings's nonfiction book The Operators. Brad Pitt stars as General Glen McMahon, a confident, larger-than-life four-star general loosely modeled on Stanley McChrystal, who is sent to Afghanistan to take charge of coalition forces and finally win the war. Convinced that one bold push will end the conflict, he clashes with politicians in Washington, navigates tangled alliances in Kabul, and demands more troops than the White House is willing to give. His carefully managed image unravels after a Rolling Stone journalist is embedded with his inner circle and reports on the team's loose talk and dysfunctional bravado.
The ensemble cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Ben Kingsley, Topher Grace, Anthony Michael Hall, John Magaro, and Russell Crowe. The film premiered on Netflix on May 26, 2017.
