John Magaro — Biography

John Robert Magaro was born on 16 February 1983 in Akron, Ohio, and trained as an actor at Point Park University. Working across American film, television and theatre, he built a wide-ranging body of screen work that includes Carol, Not Fade Away, Past Lives, The Big Short and First Cow, alongside television roles in Orange Is the New Black and The Umbrella Academy. He has worked repeatedly with director Kelly Reichardt, appearing in both First Cow and Showing Up. He made his Broadway debut in 2016, playing Earl Williams, an escaped convict, in a revival of The Front Page. More recently he starred opposite Steve Buscemi in Turkish director Tolga Karaçelik's Psycho Therapy.
