What a Man is a 2011 German romantic comedy that marked actor Matthias Schweighöfer's debut behind the camera. He also takes the lead role and co-wrote the screenplay together with Doron Wisotzky. The story follows a young schoolteacher who is dumped by his longtime girlfriend after she has an affair, pushing him to question his own sense of masculinity. Sibel Kekilli and Thomas Kretschmann appear in key supporting roles.

Shooting took place in Frankfurt, Offenbach and Düsseldorf during the autumn of 2010, with Fox International Productions and Pantaleon Films behind the production. Released in German cinemas in late August 2011, the comedy drew mixed reviews yet became a major commercial hit, pulling in roughly 1.8 million admissions domestically and about twelve and a half million euros at the box office, making it the second-highest-grossing German film of that year. The film's success brought Schweighöfer the Hessian Film Award, and the production itself later received the Jupiter Award for best German film in 2012.
