Bülent Oran — Biography
Born Mehmet Bülent Oran on March 27, 1924, in Istanbul's Bakırköy district, he studied law before turning his career toward cinema, working both as a screenwriter and, occasionally, as an actor.
Between 1952 and 1988 he wrote the screenplays for nearly 250 films, making him one of Yeşilçam's most prolific writers and earning him a reputation as a master of the era's most quotable lines. One of the films he wrote was selected for the 11th Berlin International Film Festival, and his credits include Kezban (1953) and Ankara Ekspresi (1970).
Married to fellow screenwriter Ayşe Şasa, Oran won the Golden Orange award for best screenplay at the Antalya Film Festival and later received a lifetime achievement award. He died in Istanbul on September 23, 2004.
