Derya Artemel — Biography

Derya Artemel is a Turkish actress, born in İzmir on 21 October 1980 and raised in the Karşıyaka district. After Gazi Anadolu High School she graduated from the theatre department of Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Fine Arts, performing with amateur companies on and off campus as a student. After graduating she moved to Istanbul.

Her first screen role was Sıla in Zerda in 2002. She played Zeliş in Aliye and, in 2005, the scheming Müjde in Seher Vakti, a part in which critics said she shone; the same year she appeared in the film Organize İşler. Later work included Fikrimin İnce Gülü, Ayşen Batu in Yol Arkadaşım, Melek in Bitmeyen Şarkı and Cinayet. Wide recognition came with Mesude Yılmaz in Kırgın Çiçekler, which began on atv in 2015; the character's line "Kemal'im yapmaz!" became memorable. Written out in 2017, she moved on to play Servet in Aşk ve Mavi, followed by Çocukluk, Kara Tahta and Kendi Düşen Ağlamaz on TRT 1.

She has kept working on stage, taking the Medea-inspired lead in Araf and roles in Öteki, Zübük and Empatopya; in 2019 she both directed and acted in Masanın Altında. In spring 2026 a new look brought her back into the headlines.
