Elçin Sangu — Biography

Elçin Sangu was born on 13 August 1985 in İzmir, the only child of an ethnic Circassian family. She graduated from the Opera Department of Mersin University's State Conservatory; in 2006 she won a scholarship to the Theatre Department of Yeditepe University's Faculty of Fine Arts but left when her interest in music prevailed, and trained instead at the Sahne Tozu Theatre.

She stepped onto screen in 2011 as Jale in Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki; she went on to play Nehir in Aşk Kaç Beden Giyer (2012), Eda in the Korean-drama adaptation Bir Aşk Hikâyesi (2013), and Güzide in Kurt Seyit ve Şura (2014), filmed in Russia and Ukraine. Her role as Defne opposite Barış Arduç in Kiralık Aşk (2015-2017) ran 69 episodes and brought over twenty award nominations, including three Golden Butterflies. She moved into film with Mutluluk Zamanı (2017), then played the vampire Mia in Yaşamayanlar (2018), Zeynep in Çarpışma (2018), marriage therapist Nergis in Ezel Akay's 9 Kere Leyla (2020), and Peri in Çöp Adam (2022). In 2025 she starred with Çağatay Ulusoy in the action film Uykucu, and in 2026 she joined the cast of the series Seni Tanıyorum.

She became the face of Elidor in 2016 and GittiGidiyor in 2021. In 2026 she gave testimony as a witness in the AHBAP Association investigation and responded with documents to a fraud allegation made against her.
