Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ — Biography

Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ was born on 27 October 1983 in Adana to Erdem and Nurten Tatlıtuğ, of Albanian-Bosniak descent on his father's side and Edirne roots on his mother's; the family has run an Adana bakery for over a century. He played basketball as a teenager for Ülkerspor, Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe before an injury ended that career. His mother spotted a modeling ad that launched him into fashion; he was named Best Model of Turkey and then of the World in 2002 and moved to Paris. He returned to Turkey to study acting and debuted in 2005 in Gümüş opposite Songül Öden, the first Turkish series sold to the Middle East. His role as Behlül Haznedar opposite Beren Saat in Aşk-ı Memnu (2008-2010) marked his career's turning point; he went on to star in Kuzey Güney (2011-13), Kelebeğin Rüyası (2013), Kurt Seyit ve Şura (2014), Cesur ve Güzel (2016-17), Çarpışma (2018) and Aile (2023), earning four Golden Butterfly Best Actor awards. He played Arman in the Netflix productions Into the Night (2021) and Yakamoz S-245 (2022). He married stylist Başak Dizer in 2016; their son Kurt Efe was born in 2022. In August 2026 he closed his social media accounts, which had around five million followers.
