Gülsüm Kamu — Biography
Gülsüm Kamu (born Mine Gülsüm Kefeli, August 13, 1944, Sürmene, Trabzon) is a Turkish theatre, film and television actress.
Educated at the Notre-Dame de Sion French Girls' High School in Istanbul, she was introduced to the stage through her neighbour Yıldız Kenter and began acting with the Kent Oyuncuları company in the early 1960s. She later worked with Gen-Ar and the Gülriz Sururi-Engin Cezzar theatres. She made her cinema debut in 1964 with Afilli Delikanlılar and went on to appear in numerous Yeşilçam productions of the 1960s, among them Krallar Kralı (1965), Beyaz Atlı Adam (1965), Sabah Yıldızı (1968) and Melikşah (1969).
Kamu also sang for a time. After marrying and later separating from Iranian actor Cihangir Gaffari, she returned to Türkiye and founded her own company, Kamu Tiyatrosu; following its bankruptcy she worked in other trades before rejoining Kent Oyuncuları. She was also briefly married to Müşfik Kenter. In the 2000s she returned to the screen in television series and films such as 72. Koğuş (2011).
