Lucas Reiber — Biography
Lucas Reiber is best known among Germany's younger generation of actors for playing Etienne, nicknamed Ploppi, in Fack ju Göhte 2 and Fack ju Göhte 3. His portrayal of the boy with Asperger's syndrome drew attention from audiences and critics alike; a writer in Die Zeit called him the only ray of hope in the film. On television he played Niklas Neudecker in both seasons of Disney's Binny and the Ghost.
He first met the stage at ten, as the young Gavroche in the musical Les Misérables at the Theater des Westens. From 2008 to 2011 he trained in singing, acting and dance with the young ensemble of the Friedrichstadt-Palast. His first role came in 2009 in the television film Ken Folletts Eisfieber; his first cinema part was Marc, the keyboardist of a band, in the youth film Rock It! (2010). He then continued in television films, playing the young footballer who uses a wheelchair in Sprung ins Leben and the mentally disabled son Matis in Die Mutter des Mörders. After a small part in Lore, he also appeared in films such as Summer Solstice (2015) and Abikalypse (2019).
In 2016 he won the Bavarian Film Award for Best Young Actor for Fack ju Göhte 2, and the same year Bunte's New Faces Award for his performance in Die Mutter des Mörders. He occasionally acts in the theatre and is a member of the German Film Academy.
