Remzi Jöntürk — Biography
Remzi Aydın Jöntürk was one of the most prolific filmmakers of Turkish cinema, born in Erzincan in 1936. After attending Kuleli Military High School, he moved into filmmaking and went on to direct more than 70 feature films over his career, also working as a screenwriter and occasional actor.
He is best known for the Malkoçoğlu swashbuckler series starring Cüneyt Arkın, including Malkoçoğlu Krallara Karşı and Malkoçoğlu Kara Korsan, and is regarded as a pioneer of 1970s Turkish psychedelic action cinema. Together with Arkın he made the so-called Adam Trilogy, whose entries Yarınsız Adam (The Man Without Tomorrow) and Yıkılmayan Adam (The Indestructible Man) remain among the genre's best-known titles. Jöntürk died on 2 September 1987 in Çanakkale.
