Movie · 1967 · 4 people

Malkoçoğlu Against the Kings is a 1967 Turkish swashbuckling historical action film. Co-directed by Süreyya Duru and Remzi Jöntürk from a screenplay by Bülent Oran and Ayhan Başoğlu, it follows Malkoçoğlu Ali Bey, who returns from the Morea campaign to find his village burned and his wife and men killed. He sets out with Ejder to take revenge on Vlad the Voivode and rescue his kidnapped son. Along the way he frees a girl from a dungeon who turns out to be a princess, but the two are trapped and taken captive.

The film stars Cüneyt Arkın, the legendary action hero of Turkish cinema, alongside Yılmaz Köksal, Yıldırım Gencer and Remzi Jöntürk. Some scenes were shot at the historic Mamure Castle in Anamur. A well-known anecdote tells that Arkın's hand was severed at the wrist during the horseback palace-entry scene and was reattached by Halit Ziya Konuralp, his former medical school professor.
