Senan Kara — Biography

Born on 9 August 1978 in İzmir, Senan Kara finished secondary school at Yunus Emre College before entering the Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Fine Arts theatre programme in 1996, graduating in 2000 with productions of A Streetcar Named Desire and Portrait of a Madonna. As a resident performer with the Istanbul City Theatres she appeared in numerous stage productions including Hamlet 2001, Cabaret, Kafes and Twelfth Night, winning the Turkish Women's Union's Bedia Muvahhit Award for Medea and Kim Kimi Kimle and a best supporting actress prize at the 2010 Afife Theatre Awards for Kafes. She made her television debut in 2000 with Karakolda Ayna Var and reached a wide audience playing Veronika opposite Halit Ergenç and Bergüzar Korel in Vatanım Sensin (2016). Her role as Selma in the 2019 film Bilmemek brought her best-actress honors at the Adana Golden Boll festival and several others, and that same year she appeared in Atiye, Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir and Kuzgun. After Adım Farah (2023), she began playing Zuhal in Aşk ve Gözyaşı in 2025; she has been married to actor Serhat Tutumluer since 2007.
