Pocket Hercules: Naim Süleymanoglu (Cep Herkülü: Naim Süleymanoğlu)

Pocket Hercules: Naim Süleymanoğlu is a 141-minute Turkish biographical drama directed by Özer Feyzioğlu, released on 22 November 2019. Barış Pirhasan's screenplay draws on 'My Brother Pocket Hercules', the memoir of the legendary weightlifter's brother Muharrem Süleymanoğlu, with Mustafa Uslu producing. The film follows the athlete's life from his introduction to weightlifting at age ten in the 1970s through the 1988 Seoul Olympics, including his feat of becoming the youngest world record holder at fifteen and his subsequent Olympic, European and world titles. A major thread covers the assimilation campaign launched by Todor Zhivkov's Bulgarian regime in late 1984 and Naim's efforts to flee the country to expose it. Hayat Van Eck stars as Naim, alongside Yetkin Dikinciler, Selen Öztürk, Gürkan Uygun, İsmail Hacıoğlu and Uğur Güneş. Filming took place in Turkey, Bulgaria, Australia, Brazil, England, the USA and Moscow.
