Renan Bilek — Biography

Born Recep Renan Bilek on October 6, 1968 in İstanbul, the performer sang as frontman of a band called Leke during his years at Galatasaray High School; after the group disbanded he released a solo record, also titled Leke, in 1999. He spent a period living in İzmir before returning to İstanbul in 2005, where he took the stage with several theater companies, including Ortaoyuncular.

His screen career began in 1990 with the film Yeşil Bir Dünya, followed by roles in Geniş Aile Yapıştır, Hükümet Kadın and Devrimden Sonra. The 2010 series Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki brought him wider recognition, and he went on to appear in the series Yeşil Deniz and Doksanlar, as well as in Yeni Gelin, in which he played the character Kamil.

Alongside acting and music, Bilek has toured with one-man shows such as "Bi' Laf Etmeli," "Aramızda Kalsın" and "Bir Cem Karaca Hikayesi: Ömrüm," wrote a regular column for the newspaper soL, and has been published in various arts and culture magazines.
