İsmail Hacıoğlu — Biography

İsmail Hacıoğlu was born on 30 November 1985 in Istanbul; his father, Mehmet Hacıoğlu, once played for Fenerbahçe before later coaching in national youth football, while his sister, Kardelen Hacıoğlu, is also an actress. He first performed in a school play in fifth grade, trained in theatre at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center, did commercial voice-over work, and was admitted to Mimar Sinan University's State Conservatory before leaving after his first year to pursue acting full time.

His performance in Ömer Kavur's 2002 film Karşılaşma brought him the Antalya Golden Orange Festival's promising young actor honor, the Ankara Film Festival's Mehmet Emin Toprak award, and a SİYAD prize for newcomers; in 2011 he was named best actor at the 16th Sadri Alışık Awards for Çakal. He later took roles in widely seen films such as Kabadayı, Vali and Sınav, plus Anlat İstanbul and Meryem; for Cep Herkülü he played champion weightlifter Naim Süleymanoğlu, and also featured in the wartime story Ayla. He starred in the series Mahkum in 2021 and Taçsız Prenses in 2023, and played musician Cem Karaca in a 2024 biopic.

In February 2026 he was dropped from the TRT series Cennetin Çocukları after a positive drug test and was detained that month in a narcotics investigation; later that year he joined the cast of the series Yeraltı.
