The Encounter (Karşılaşma)

The Encounter is a Turkish-Hungarian drama film directed by Ömer Kavur, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Macit Koper, and released in 2003. The master director's last film, it received critical acclaim for its finely crafted editing and won numerous awards at various festivals in the year of its release.

The film centers on two men who meet while battling illness. Sinan is grappling with the responsibility for his son's death in a motorcycle accident, while Mahmut, with his dark past, struggles to cope with life. After his friend's murder, Sinan sets out to solve the crime, and as he follows the trail, he encounters unexpected connections to his own son; events become increasingly complex and dangerous.

Starring Uğur Polat in the lead role, the film's cast also includes Çetin Tekindor, Lale Mansur, İsmail Hacıoğlu, Aytaç Arman, and Necmettin Çobanoğlu. Awarded for best film, best director, and best acting at numerous festivals, including the Antalya Golden Orange and Ankara International Film Festivals, *The Encounter* is considered one of the notable examples of Kavur's cinematic style.
