Upside-Down World (Tersine Dünya) (translated)

Tersine Dünya is a 1993 Turkish comedy written and directed by Ersin Pertan. Adapted from Orhan Kemal's novel of the same name, the film was produced by Özer Film.

The story unfolds in an imagined society where the roles of men and women have been completely flipped. Women act as neighborhood toughs and go out to earn the household's living, while men are kept at home and kidnapped so they can be married off. Through this inverted order, the film playfully questions established gender conventions.

Demet Akbağ stars as Bitirim Leyla, with Rasim Öztekin appearing alongside her as Süleyman. The supporting ensemble features Lale Mansur, Jale Arıkan, Berhan Şimşek, Serra Yılmaz, Cem Davran and Emre Altuğ.
