Voyage of the Scorpion (Akrebin Yolculuğu)

Movie · 1997 · 8 people

Akrebin Yolculuğu is a 1997 film directed by Ömer Kavur, who co-wrote the screenplay with Macit Koper. A co-production of Turkey, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, it was the director's final film, with music composed by Attila Özdemiroğlu.

The story follows Kerem, a clockmaker who receives a key from an enigmatic stranger and sets off in search of the clock tower he is meant to repair. When he finally locates it, the tower leads him to a mysterious woman whose entire existence is bound to it. Deeply affected by this encounter, Kerem finds himself surrounded by inexplicable occurrences, while the quiet town around him seems to lose its very sense of time.

Mehmet Aslantuğ, Şahika Tekand, and Tuncel Kurtiz head the cast, alongside Aytaç Arman, Nüvit Özdoğru, Macit Koper, Kenan Bal, and Rana Cabbar. Shot at the Göynük Clock Tower, the film was presented in the Un Certain Regard section of the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.
