Afife Jale
Afife Jale is a 1987 Turkish biographical drama. It marked the directorial debut of photographer Şahin Kaygun and was produced by Olgun Film.
The film traces the life of Afife Jale, the first Muslim Turkish woman to perform on a public stage, against the backdrop of the late Ottoman era. It touches on her struggle with morphine addiction and the final years she spent in a mental institution, with Müjde Ar starring in the title role.
