Macit Koper — Biography

Macit Koper was born on 1 March 1944 in Istanbul. He was introduced to theatre as a high school student at the Beşiktaş Halkevi, and later worked as both an actor and a director with established companies such as Şehir Theatres and Dostlar Theatre.

Koper entered cinema in the late 1970s and gained recognition in the 1980s through films such as "At" and "Pjort'lu Hoca". The turning point of his career came with his portrayal of Zebercet in the film "Anayurt Oteli", a performance that established him as one of the memorable names in Turkish cinema. He also appeared in "Aaahh Belinda" around the same period, and became known as a screenwriter in addition to his acting work.

Koper has remained a frequent presence in Turkish television over his long career, and continued his cinema work with the 2016 film "İftarlık Gazoz". In late 2025 he joined the cast of the series "Kızılcık Şerbeti", taking on the role of Hikmet. In early 2026 he lost his wife to cancer, and shared his grief publicly in emotional messages to his fans.
