Müjde Ar — Biography

Born Kamile Suat Ebrem on 21 June 1954 in Istanbul, Müjde Ar is a Turkish screen actress whose parents were journalist Vedat Ebrem and celebrated lyricist and stage performer Aysel Gürel. She began her career as a model and stage actress before moving into cinema in the mid-1970s, making her feature debut in Babacan in 1975. Through the 1980s she became known for portraying strong, unconventional female leads that helped reshape how women were depicted on the Turkish screen, with films such as Fahriye Abla, Adı Vasfiye, and Asiye Nasıl Kurtulur? standing among her signature roles. Her extensive filmography also includes Kibar Feyzo, Tosun Paşa, and Ağır Roman. Over her decades-long career she has received several honors from the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, including a best actress prize and a lifetime achievement award.
