Break the Chains of Your Heart (Kır Gönlünün Zincirini) (translated)
Kır Gönlünün Zincirini ("Break the Chain of Your Heart") is a 1981 Turkish film (some sources date it to 1980) directed by Şerif Gören from a screenplay by Erdoğan Tünaş, and produced by Selim Soydan. It belongs to the arabesque-musical melodrama style popular in Turkish cinema of the era.
The story follows a singer who sets out for revenge after learning that his sister's death was caused by the son of a wealthy family. After achieving fame, he grows close to the young man's sister, only for his plan to take an unexpected turn.
The singer is played by real-life arabesque star Orhan Gencebay, opposite Müjde Ar as the sister he becomes involved with. The film is one of several music-driven melodramas that brought Gencebay's persona to the Turkish screen in the early 1980s.
