Mehmet Aslantuğ — Biography

Mehmet Aslantuğ was born on September 25, 1961, in Samsun as the youngest child of a family of Circassian (Adyghe) descent; he lost his father at the age of four and later left his business studies to pursue acting.

Entering cinema in the mid-1980s, Aslantuğ won three Golden Orange Awards for the films Kapıları Açmak, Yalancı and Yengeç Sepeti, and went on to receive a Golden Boll Award, a Golden Objective Award and four Golden Butterfly Awards over the course of his career; he has also appeared in series such as Sıcak Saatler, Bir İstanbul Masalı, Hanımın Çiftliği, Veda and Masumiyet, as well as the film Direniş Karatay.

He married former beauty queen Arzum Onan in 1996, with whom he has a son, before the couple separated after 27 years of marriage; in 2026 he shared an emotional farewell message with the public after the death of his mother.
