Crab Basket (Yengeç Sepeti) (translated)

Yengeç Sepeti (Crab Basket) is a 1994 Turkish drama film written and directed by Yavuz Özkan. The story centers on an elderly mother and father who have escaped the turmoil of the big city and settled into a quiet, peaceful life by a lake. When their two sons and daughter arrive with spouses and grandchildren for a weekend holiday, the family comes together under one roof.

The reunion brings long-suppressed personal troubles and inner conflicts to the surface, and the film's title evokes the image of crabs placed in the same basket tearing at one another. The cast includes Sadri Alışık, Macide Tanır, Mehmet Aslantuğ, Şahika Tekand, Derya Alabora, Oktay Kaynarca, and Ege Aydan. The roughly 95-minute production is also remembered as Sadri Alışık's final feature film, in which he plays the grandfather.
