Ege Aydan — Biography

Born Fevzi Ege Aydan in Ankara, he is the son of opera singer and actress Sevda Aydan and the younger brother of national basketball player Efe Aydan. He began his artistic training in ballet but abandoned it because of his height, then graduated from the theatre department of the Ankara State Conservatory and joined the Ankara State Theatre; from 1990 he moved into directing there, staging numerous plays, and in 1994 won the Sanat Kurumu Best Actor award for the play Candan Can Koparmak.

He moved in front of the camera in the late 1980s and reached a wide audience with the film İstanbul Kanatlarımın Altında; he became known for the series Baba Evi, Kara Melek, Asmalı Konak, Binbir Gece and Kavak Yelleri, and for playing Şevket in the Behzat Ç. franchise. He has since appeared in Gönül Dağı, Anadolu Leoparı, Çekiç ve Gül: Bir Behzat Ç. Hikayesi, Merve Kült and Çok Aşk, returning to screens in 2025 with Senden Kalan and Bugün Güzel.

Alongside acting, he has painted in watercolour since 1982 and has held more than thirty solo exhibitions. He married Sevilay Yılmaz in 2015; his mother, Sevda Aydan, died in 2018.
