Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu — Biography

Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu, whose family originally comes from Şanlıurfa, was born in Istanbul on 7 September 1979; because his father was a civil servant subject to postings, his childhood was spent in cities such as Patnos, Cyprus, Tekirdağ and Ankara. After three years studying philosophy at Middle East Technical University, he transferred to the Theatre Department of Hacettepe University, working with the State Theatres and assisting actor Semih Sergen during his student years. He moved to Istanbul to play "Revolutionary Mehmet" in Çağan Irmak's Çemberimde Gül Oya, then joined the same team's War of Independence series Kırık Kanatlar as Lieutenant Nevzat, and in 2007 played an idealist nicknamed "Reis" in the film Zincirbozan.

His first television role came in Yuvadan Bir Kuş Uçtu, but he became widely known for the character Vedat in Sen Anlat Karadeniz. He appeared in films such as Kış Uykusu, Kusursuzlar and Bizim Büyük Çaresizliğimiz, in the series Güvercin (2019) and Kudüs Fatihi Selahaddin Eyyubi (2023), and joined the cast of Kuruluş Orhan in 2025. Also active as a director, he staged his one-man play "Dünyada" in London as part of the 2026 Camden Fringe.

He divorced Selin Şekerci, whom he had married in 2009, in 2011, and married Çiçek Gülsen the same year; in 2014 he spent eight months in India training in yoga. That marriage ended in 2022, and in March 2023 he married Berrin Ağırbaş in a quiet ceremony.
