Ali Düşenkalkar — Biography

Ali Düşenkalkar, born in 1961 in Nicosia, is a Turkish Cypriot theatre and film actor and the older brother of actress Munis Düşenkalkar. After graduating in theatre from Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory in 1983, he joined the Istanbul State Theatre, where he has both acted in and directed more than thirty plays; he is also the Turkish dubbing voice of V in V for Vendetta and for years presented Atatürk's Address to Youth to civic groups and schools using a slide show.

His screen career began in 1993 with Yaz Evi, and through the 2000s and 2010s he became known for roles in Korkuyorum Anne, Osmanlı Cumhuriyeti, Devrim Arabaları and Hanımın Çiftliği, earning best-actor honors at the 16th Ankara Film Festival and the 14th Sadri Alışık Awards for Korkuyorum Anne. He played a lead role in Kayıtdışı in 2017, later appeared in Gönül Dağı and Ömer, and joined the cast of Cennetin Çocukları in 2025. Turkish press reported in April 2026 that he had stepped down as general artistic director of the Bursa City Theatres.
