How Much, Run (Kaç Para Kaç) (translated)

Kaç Para Kaç (Run for Money) is a 1998-1999 Turkish comedy-drama film written and directed by Reha Erdem. Starring Taner Birsel, Bennu Yıldırımlar, Zuhal Gencer, Engin Alkan and Bülent Emin Yarar, the film was produced by Ömer Atay, with Florent Herry and Jean-Louis Vialard as cinematographers.

Set in Istanbul, the story follows Selim, a modest clothing shop owner whose life changes when he finds a bag stuffed with hundred-dollar bills in a taxi. While searching for its owner, he learns the money was embezzled; he begins spending it on his needs, but his expenses gradually turn extravagant. Through themes of money, conscience and honesty, the film shows how an ordinary, upright man can be dragged toward tragedy by sudden wealth. It was selected as Turkey's submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the 73rd Academy Awards, though it was not accepted as a nominee.
