Engin Alkan — Biography
Engin Alkan (born July 27, 1965, in Istanbul) is a Turkish actor and theatre director. Between 1984 and 1989 he studied acting at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory and the Theatre Department of the Istanbul University State Conservatory.
A member of the Istanbul City Theatres (İBB Şehir Tiyatroları) since 1985, he has worked there as both actor and director, and since 1996 has also taught at various drama schools and headed theatre departments. He made his television breakthrough as Vahit in the hit comedy series Yedi Numara (2000) and appeared in films such as A Run for Money (1999), Bu Son Olsun (2012) and Have You Ever Seen Fireflies? (2021), as well as the series Kardeş Çocukları (2019) and İkimizin Sırrı (2021).
Alkan is also a prolific voice actor: he dubbed Papa Smurf in The Smurfs, Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Puss in Boots in the Shrek films and the champion Braum in League of Legends. In 2025 he played Adnan Baki in the long-running series Arka Sokaklar and staged the musical Haramiler at the City Theatres.
