Ferit Kaya — Biography

Born on 24 February 1984 in the Eğil district of Diyarbakır, one of seven children, Ferit Kaya, an actor of Zaza descent, trained at Mimar Sinan State Conservatory's theatre department and began his career in 2006 with Erkekler Ağlamaz; the next year his role as Balaban in Mavi Gözlü Dev won him Most Promising New Actor at the Ankara Film Festival and Most Promising Young Actor at the Çasod Awards.

In the late 2000s he played Uğur in Kavak Yelleri, then took the roles of Resul in Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman ki (2010), İhsan in Kötü Yol and Cowboy Ali in Bu Son Olsun (2012); he appeared in Muhteşem Yüzyıl: Kösem and Niyazi Gül Dörtnala in 2015, Arka Sokaklar and Familya in 2016, and Aşk ve Mavi in 2017-2018. He won wide acclaim as Murtaza in Çukur between 2019 and 2021, while also appearing in the film 7. Koğuştaki Mucize and the series Kuzgun; in 2021 he played Zafer in Netflix's Fatma and Mervan in Mavera, and took the role of Erbaskan in Alparslan: Büyük Selçuklu from 2021 to 2023. He most recently reached a wide audience as Demir Baybars in ATV's Uzak Şehir, leaving the show in summer 2026 to join the network's upcoming period drama.
