Five Cities (Beş Şehir)

Five Cities (Beş Şehir) is a 2009 Turkish drama film written, directed, and produced by Onur Ünlü. Released nationwide in Turkey on April 9, 2010, it follows Aydın, a young policeman newly assigned to Istanbul who falls in love with Mehtap, a woman working in a Beyoğlu candy shop. Around his story, the lives of five seemingly unrelated people intersect in what has been described as an absurd poetic tale, including Şevket, a former law student who harbors unrequited feelings for Mehtap's coworker Dilek.

The 95-minute film stars Ferit Kaya, Şebnem Sönmez, Tansu Biçer, and Ahmet Rıfat Şungar. It won several awards, including Best Screenplay, at the Antalya Golden Orange and Adana Golden Koza film festivals, while Tansu Biçer received Best Actor honors at the Adana and Istanbul festivals.
