Tansu Biçer — Biography

Tansu Biçer was born on July 4, 1978, in Ankara; after Karşıyaka Şemikler High School in İzmir, he graduated from the Theatre Department of Eskişehir Anadolu University's State Conservatory in 2001 and performed that same season with Tiyatro Anadolu. He moved to Istanbul in 2002, helped found the Semaver Kumpanya theatre company, and became one of its best-known actors, appearing in nearly twenty of its productions, including adaptations of Shakespeare, Brecht and Max Frisch.

A frequent collaborator of director Onur Ünlü, Biçer appeared in his films Güneşin Oğlu, Beş Şehir, The Extreme Tragic Story of Celal Tan and His Family and İtirazım Var; his performance in Beş Şehir (2009) brought him the Behlül Dal Special Award at the Golden Orange Film Festival and Best Actor at the Istanbul Film Festival, and he later won separate Best Supporting Actor prizes for Küf (2012) and Yozgat Blues (2013), then Best Actor at the Golden Boll Film Festival for Toz Ruhu (2014). After playing Yücel Tansoy in the series Çukur, he left the show in 2020, and went on to appear in Rise of Empires: Ottoman, Midnight at the Pera Palace and Veliaht. In 2026 he co-starred with Özgü Namal in İlker Çatak's Sarı Zarflar, winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, which also earned the film a German Film Award (Lola) nomination. He is in a relationship with fellow actor Tülin Özen.
