The Wings of the Night (Gecenin Kanatları)

The Wings of the Night is a 2009 Turkish drama film. Scripted by Mahsun Kırmızıgül, the production deals with the devastating impact of the conflict in southeastern Turkey on individual lives.

At the center of the story is Gece, a young woman who joins an armed organization after losing her family in a raid at a young age. Assigned to carry out a suicide attack in Istanbul, Gece has severed every bond with life while waiting for her mission. However, the love she unexpectedly develops for the son of the building's caretaker makes her question her decision and confronts her with her conscience.

Starring Beren Saat, Murat Ünalmış, Erkan Petekkaya, and Yavuz Bingöl, the film also features Ferit Kaya and Alper Kul in its cast. The production brings the tension between love and duty, and between individual conscience and organizational loyalty, to the screen in a dramatic tone.
