Murat Ünalmış — Biography
Having spent his childhood in Kayseri, Murat Ünalmış moved to Istanbul after middle school and played professional basketball for Fenerbahçe during his high school years; after graduating in business administration from Marmara University he trained as an actor at Academy Istanbul. His career began with the series Hayat Bağları, Sınırlı Aşk and Kurşun Yarası, followed by roles in Üç Kadın, Şöhret, Sır Gibi, Rüzgar and Kasaba; he gained real recognition playing Mamo in Mahsun Kırmızıgül's 2009 film Güneşi Gördüm, and also appeared in the director's Newyork'ta Beş Minare.
After taking the lead in Yer Gök Aşk, he appeared in İnadına Yaşamak, Seddülbahir 32 Saat, Sevda Kuşun Kanadında and Deli Gönül; playing Demir Yaman in Bir Zamanlar Çukurova from 2018 brought him wide recognition, and he left the series in June 2021. He took the lead in Gülcemal in 2023, and returns to screens in 2026 opposite Özge Özacar in Show TV's Sevdan Bir Ateş.
He was briefly married to actress Birce Akalay from 2011 to 2012, and married Bulgarian-born Nutiye Akar in 2023.
