The White Angel (Beyaz Melek)

The White Angel (Beyaz Melek) is a 2007 Turkish drama film written and directed by Mahsun Kırmızıgül, who also stars in it. Produced by Boyut Film, it opened across Turkey on 16 November 2007. The story follows Ali and Reşat, two young men from the East who bring their cancer-stricken father Ahmet to Istanbul for chemotherapy; unable to endure the grueling treatment, Ahmet flees the hospital and ends up in a nursing home, whose residents assume he has been abandoned and insist that he stay.

When the brothers finally find their father, they let him remain because he seems happy there, and Ahmet gradually grows close to the residents, each carrying a personal drama of their own. Set in the rest home during its first half, the film turns into a road movie before concluding in Diyarbakır. Also starring Yıldız Kenter and Sarp Apak, it won the Remi Award at the 41st WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival and became the second highest-grossing Turkish film of 2007.
