Erkan Petekkaya — Biography

Born on 11 December 1970 in Elazığ to a civil-servant family originally from Diyarbakır, Erkan Petekkaya spent his childhood on Istanbul's Anatolian side and, after his parents separated when he was six, spent time in a children's care home. After graduating from the Anadolu University State Conservatory in 1993 he performed on stage with the Diyarbakır State Theatre in plays including Kanlı Düğün and Deli Dumrul, before beginning his screen career in 1998 with the series Güzel Günler.

He reached a wide audience as Ömer in Beyaz Gelincik (2005-2007), then took leading roles in highly rated series such as Sessiz Fırtına, Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman ki, Dila Hanım, and as Cihan in Paramparça (2014-2017), a run that made him one of Turkey's best-known television actors. In film he appeared in Serseri, Son Bahar, Gecenin Kanatları, Kolpaçino 3. Devre and Ayla, and played Vlad the Impaler in a 2018 historical film. In 2017 he signed with Karga Seven Pictures and spent time in Los Angeles, the same year receiving a Miracle Makers award at the 44th Golden Butterfly Awards.

He went on to appear in Vurgun (2019), Kırmızı Oda (2020), Sana Söz (2021) and O Kız (2022), and in 2026 played a force commander in TRT's July 15-themed series Asırlık Gece.
