Begüm Kütük — Biography

Begüm Kütük was born on 27 August 1980 in the Konak district of İzmir, to a Bosniak mother and an Albanian father. After finishing school in İzmir she went to France, where she studied media and communication at the University of Nancy before returning to Turkey and moving into acting. In 2001 she placed third in the Best Model of Turkey contest, taking her first modeling job with agent Yıldırım Mayruk.

She began acting in the series A.G.A. and Melek, then reached wide recognition playing Safiye Karahanlı in Kurtlar Vadisi (Valley of the Wolves); between 2005 and 2007 she hosted the film program Sineshow on Show TV. She went on to appear in series such as Canım Ailem, Hayat Güzeldir, Uygun Adım Aşk, Yalan Dünya, Çalıkuşu and Kaderimin Yazıldığı Gün, and in the 2010 film Romantik Komedi as well as Mar, which won prizes at the SİYAD and Malatya festivals. Her role of Joy in the 2010-2011 play Olağan Mucizeler earned her best actress at the Direklerarası Audience Awards.

In 2017 she joined the cast of Kanal D's Sevdanın Bahçesi alongside Sibel Can and Emre Kınay, and has also served as a jury member at short film festivals. Married to cartoonist Erdil Yaşaroğlu since 2010, she has more recently returned to the stage with Gamze Süner Atay in the play Terapi.
