Karatay Resistance (Direniş Karatay) (translated)

Direniş Karatay is a 2018 Turkish historical action-adventure film directed by Selahattin Sancaklı, set during the era of the Anatolian Seljuk state.

Mehmet Aslantuğ takes the lead as the statesman Emir Celaleddin Karatay, a figure caught up in both military campaigns and court intrigue of the period. Fikret Kuşkan plays Ahi Evren, credited as the founder of the Ahi guild movement, alongside him.

The wide-ranging cast also features Alperen Duymaz, Yurdaer Okur, Burcu Özberk, Nik Xhelilaj, Ertuğrul Şakar and Furkan Palalı, with the plot revolving around the rulers, commanders and rival forces of the time to deliver a historical tale of resistance. The film opened in Turkish theaters in March 2018.
