Fikret Kuşkan — Biography

Mehmet Fikret Kuşkan was born on 22 April 1965 in Istanbul and grew up in İstinye with four sisters; after losing his Albanian-descended father at thirteen, he spent a few years in Tokat. Back in Istanbul, he attended Hasköy Lisesi, where a literature teacher encouraged him toward theatre, and he went on to graduate from the Theatre Department of the Istanbul University State Conservatory. He made his screen debut in Zülfü Livaneli's Sis in 1988 and played a photographer in the TRT series Gençler. His portrayal in Ömer Kavur's Gizli Yüz brought him a share of the 1991 Golden Orange's award for Best Actor, a title he then won outright at the 2002 Ankara festival for Ümit Ünal's debut feature 9, and at the 2006 Istanbul festival for his role as Sadık in Çağan Irmak's Babam ve Oğlum, one of several projects he made with Irmak alongside Mustafa Hakkında Herşey and Yolculuk. His television work includes Hanımın Çiftliği, Parmaklıklar Ardında, Zalim İstanbul and Elkızı, and his films include Şampiyon, Direniş Karatay and Akif, in which he played Mehmet Akif Ersoy. He has a son, Gün Kuzgun, from his marriage to musician Bahar Kerimoğlu, and married Arsevi Özkara in 2014, with whom he has a son, Gece Asaf, and a daughter, İda Sitare; he has spoken of struggling with agoraphobia. In 2026 he played Umur Karanoğlu in Aynı Yağmur Altında and was cast in the lead of TRT 1's series Evlilik Güzeldir.
