Erdal Özyağcılar — Biography

Erdal Özyağcılar, born in Bursa on August 4, 1948, is an actor and voice-over artist who, with a career spanning over half a century, is one of the most recognizable faces of Turkish cinema and television. He worked for many years at the City Theaters and retired from there; he entered the film industry in 1966 with the film "Death Field".

He played unforgettable supporting roles in classic comedies and dramas of Yeşilçam (Turkish cinema): The King of Garbage Collectors (1977), Kibar Feyzo (1978, Zülfo), The Postman and Şabaniye (1984), The Revenge of the Snakes (1985), Haceli, and Züğürt Ağa are among the most notable. On television, he appeared for many years as Şükrü in Bizimkiler, which started in 1989.

In the 2000s, he reached new generations with his portrayal of Kahraman Baklavacıoğlu in Yabancı Damat and Ramiz in Elveda Rumeli (2007); he also acted in series such as Karadağlar, Sevdaluk, Altın Kafes and Gülümse Yeter (Hasan). More recently, he appeared in Aile Arasında (2017), Müstakbel Damat (2022) and Balkan Ninnisi (2022).

The veteran actor, who has won numerous awards for his successful performances, was presented with an Honorary Award at the 2024 International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
