Erdal Özyağcılar — Biography
After Bursa Boys' High School, Erdal Özyağcılar entered Istanbul University's law faculty but left in his second year for the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory; he went on to join the Kenter and Dormen theatre companies before co-founding the Gazete Tiyatrosu troupe with his wife Güzin, alongside Haşmet Zeybek and Ertuğ Koruyan. He married Güzin in 1972, and the couple had two children, Emrah (b. 1972) and the actress Zeynep (b. 1985).
His portrayal of Kekeç Salman in Züğürt Ağa (1985) brought him a supporting-actor prize at the Antalya Golden Orange festival in 1986, and his Ramiz in Elveda Rumeli later earned him best TV actor at the 2008 İsmail Dümbüllü Awards and best actor from the Radio-TV Journalists' Association in 2009. In 2009 he appeared in a DenizBank commercial shot in the Maldives with Beyazıt Öztürk, and in one interview he has said he holds shamanist beliefs.
Beyond the stage, he has taken roles in more than fifty film and television productions and dubbed over sixty more; in 2026 he and Güzin marked their 55th wedding anniversary, and he continues to work in productions such as Şahsiyet, Holding, ŞamPİYONlar (2025) and Güven Bana.
