Postman (Postacı)

Postman is a 1984 Turkish comedy film directed by Memduh Ün and written by Umur Bugay. The lead roles are shared by Kemal Sunal, the era's beloved comedian, and Fatma Girik, and the story is set in Istanbul.

The film follows Adem, a postman living in an old house with his elderly mother in a modest neighborhood. When he asks his tradition-bound older brother, who has worked abroad for years, for permission to marry the girl he loves, a negative reply arrives by telegram; Adem finds a cunning workaround and the wedding preparations begin, until the brother's unexpected arrival in Türkiye exposes the lie. Built on misunderstandings and everyday comedic conflict, it is a typical example of the Yeşilçam comedy tradition.
