The Sucker (Keriz) (translated)

Keriz (The Sucker) is a Turkish comedy film released in 1985. Directed by Kartal Tibet and produced by Türker İnanoğlu, the film was made under the Erler Film banner. The leads are played by Kemal Sunal and Perihan Savaş, while the ensemble also features familiar faces of the era such as Halit Akçatepe. Running about 89 minutes, the production was shot in Turkish.

The story follows Zülfü and Zülfüye, two lovers about to marry, whose union is opposed by Zülfü's greedy uncle Topal Abbas, who fears a shift in the village's balance of power. His scheming forces the young couple onto a difficult road from their village to Istanbul. Filmed largely in Gücünkaya village in Aksaray and in Istanbul, the movie combines the popular comedic style of its time with themes of love and honesty.
