My Lying Sweetheart (Yalancı Yarim) (translated)

Yalancı Yarim is a 1973 Turkish comedy film directed by Ertem Eğilmez from a screenplay by Sadık Şendil. Produced by Arzu Film, it was released on 1 December 1973.

The hero of the story, Ferdi, is the carefree playboy son of a wealthy family, and the only person he truly fears is his older brother Mahmut, a businessman from Kayseri. Alev, the daughter of a market vendor, has secretly fallen in love with Ferdi, whom she glimpses from afar. When Mahmut arrives unannounced to check on his brother and meet his fiancée, Ferdi finds himself in a tight spot, since there is no fiancée at all, and he looks for someone willing to play the part. The only volunteer for this charade turns out to be Alev. What begins as a small lie to deceive the family gradually turns into genuine love, with comic complications along the way. The cast features beloved Yeşilçam stars including Tarık Akan, Emel Sayın, Metin Akpınar, Münir Özkul, Halit Akçatepe and Kemal Sunal.
