A Broken Love Story (Kırık Bir Aşk Hikayesi) (translated)

A Broken Love Story is a 1981 Turkish drama film directed by Ömer Kavur. Adapted from an original text by Selim İleri, the film was shot in Ayvalık.

At the heart of the story is a lonely literature teacher newly assigned to a rural town, and the son of a wealthy family who is forced into an engagement he dislikes. Their secret love is increasingly constrained by town gossip and family pressure. Separated after the woman leaves town, the couple confronts their lingering regrets when they meet again years later by chance.

The lead roles were shared by Kadir İnanır and Hümeyra, while the cast also included Özlem Onursal, Halil Ergün, Kamran Usluer, and Güler Ökten. The film won numerous awards, including Best Director, at the 1982 Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
