Wives' Ward (Karılar Koğuşu) (translated)

Karılar Koğuşu is a Turkish drama film directed by Halit Refiğ. Produced in 1989 and released in 1990, it was adapted for the screen from the posthumously published novel of the same name by the celebrated Turkish author Kemal Tahir.

The film stars Kadir İnanır, Hülya Koçyiğit, İrem Altuğ and Perihan Savaş. Drawing on the world Kemal Tahir depicted from his own experience of imprisonment, the story centers on the women's ward he observed while in prison and the lives of the female inmates there. It stands as one of the notable literary adaptations of its period in Turkish cinema.
