My Father and My Son (Babam ve Oğlum) (translated)

My Father and My Son is a 2005 Turkish drama film written and directed by Çağan Irmak and produced by Avşar Film, released nationwide on 18 November 2005. Featuring music by Evanthia Reboutsika and shot in Seferihisar, Ayvalık and Istanbul, it drew more than 3.5 million viewers, becoming one of the highest-grossing films in Turkish cinema history.

Set against the backdrop of the 12 September 1980 coup, the story follows Sadık (Fikret Kuşkan), who left his family's Aegean farm to study journalism and was disowned by his father Hüseyin (Çetin Tekindor) for getting involved in politics. After losing his wife in childbirth on the morning of the coup and later falling gravely ill, Sadık returns years later to entrust his young son Deniz to the grandfather he has never met. While Deniz adapts to this colorful household, father and son confront their past. The cast also includes Hümeyra, Şerif Sezer, Binnur Kaya, Yetkin Dikinciler and Özge Özberk.
