Istanbul Tales (Anlat İstanbul)

Istanbul Tales (Anlat İstanbul) is a Turkish anthology drama released in 2005, bringing together five directors under a single screenplay by Ümit Ünal. Set in modern-day Istanbul, the film weaves five interconnected stories modeled on the classic fairy tales of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Little Red Riding Hood, with Ümit Ünal, Selim Demirdelen, Kudret Sabancı, Yücel Yolcu and Ömür Atay each directing one segment.

The characters rework familiar tale figures into darker urban counterparts: a clarinet player, the daughter of a murdered mafia boss, a transgender woman waiting for her prince, a young man who meets a dreamer in a mansion he enters, and a courier fresh out of prison. Produced by TMC, the film won numerous honors, including Best Film at the 24th International Istanbul Film Festival.
