Azra Akın — Biography

Azra Akın was born on 8 December 1981 in Almelo, the Netherlands, to Turkish immigrant parents, and trained as a child in ballet, painting and music. After being chosen Miss Turkey in 2002 she went on to win the world title at the same year's pageant in London, becoming the first Turkish woman to hold the crown. In 2003 she won the British reality competition The Game before turning to acting in Turkey, gaining wide popularity across the Balkans and the Middle East for her role as Eylül in the 2004 series Yağmur Zamanı. She starred in the Snow White adaptation Anlat İstanbul and later appeared in productions including Geniş Aile, Poyraz Karayel and Her Şey Mümkün. Alongside her modeling work, she has remained one of the familiar faces of Turkish television and film.
